Who is UniTrust Financial Group?

UniTrust Financial Group was founded in 2016 by Pete Beckman and Brandon Hall.

In 2017, the company joined Equis Financial, a leading insurance marketing organization for independent insurance agents and agency builders. UniTrust is headquartered in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

UniTrust agency is known for its transparent leadership and agent-oriented business.

They have one of the most expansive and solution-oriented product portfolios on the market.

Together with Equis Financial, UniTrust provides innovative sales tools and useful resources for insurance agents, and offers continuous agent support.

The company also boasts an extensive insurance sales training platform.

Their agents are guaranteed access to the industry’s leading training opportunities with the help of a dedicated training portal, iTunes podcasts, as well as through in-person at regional training meetings.

What’s more, UniTrust has a competitive compensation program including personal production bonuses, equity bonuses, and agency bonuses.

There are no fees associated with working for the company, no startup or training costs, and no charges for sales conferences.

UniTrust insurance sales specialty

UniTrust was built with the purpose to serve middle-income American families.

The company works with multiple top-rated national carriers, which allows them to tailor the insurance solutions they offer to fit the exact needs of their clients.

UniTrust Financial Group sells life insurance, term life insurance, final expense insurance, and a range of other products such as annuities, mortgage protection, and asset protection.

They have what is considered to be one of the most comprehensive portfolios of final expense and retirement products in the industry.

How does the lead program work?

One of the greatest challenges for a new insurance agent is finding prospective buyers who are looking for coverage.

The UniTrust agents have access to an exclusive marketing and lead generation platform designed to find qualified consumers.

At UniTrust, the marketing team does prospecting for the agents so that they can focus on selling. They use a unique combination of direct mailings and requests for information.

This way, they are able to generate quality insurance leads across the country and deliver sales-ready qualified prospects to the agents.

To ensure these are truly qualified leads, potential clients are asked to answer a series of verification questions confirming their interest in being contacted by an agent. The company has managed to maintain over 40 percent conversion rate of qualified leads.

Is UniTrust Financial Group a scam or legit?

Watch out for final expense lead scams that don't accept credit cards.

UniTrust Financial Group is not a scam. It is a fully legitimate agency that was recognized as the Top 3 Agency of Equis Financial in 2020.

My Thoughts

Now that you know more about how UniTrust Financial Group works, here are some other thoughts to consider.

Commission Levels

While commission levels aren’t everything, they are important in determining the value proposition of any agency worth joining.

All things equal, lower commission levels equate to lower profitability for the agent. Also, lower starting commission levels may indicate that an agency has lots of “fat” in the middle.

In other words, more in between you and the top, means more commission going to organizations that may play little in your personal development as an agent (read, this may be an insurance MLM).

Bottom line, make sure to speak with the UniTrust representative about how commissions work and how to progress your commission levels.

Recruiting Vs. Producing: Which Is More Important?

In any agency you join, you need to know where emphasis is placed.

Does the agency care more about building and recruiting, or developing its recruits into top producers?

In my experience, organizations either focus on one or the other. And in my opinion, new agents should work with agencies focused on agent sales skill development above producing.

How do you know if the agency you’re thinking about is focused on recruiting over producing?

Very easy; see what the agency focuses its energy on.

If you’re getting lots of excitement over agency building and little to none about developing your skills as a producer, you’re probably at a recruitment-focused agency.

Bottom line, visit the hiring manager, review their preliminary opportunity videos, and talk with the top managers to get a feel concerning what matters most.

Get A Second Opinion

Above all else, before you jump into selling insurance, please make sure you get a second opinion on ANY agency you join.

While we are likely to trust what we hear, it’s always important to compare all opportunities to others to see which fits best for your career goals.

While some agents may be perfect fits for UniTrust, others may not be.

And nothing is worse than finding the wrong fit agency and ruining your insurance sales career BEFORE it gets off the ground.
