About Arias Agencies

Arias Agencies is a franchise of the American Income Life (AIL), an union label insurance company that actively supports labor unions and working people in the US, as well as Canada and New Zealand. American Income Life Insurance is a wholly owned subsidiary of Globe Life Inc.

Since 1951, American Income Life has provided American working class families with life, accident, and supplemental health insurance products. It helps protect members of labor unions, credit unions, associations, and their families.

Arias is one of the fastest growing and most successful agencies within the American Income Life company. Arias Agencies was founded in 2008 by Simon Arias, who became the youngest state general agent in AIL history at the age of 24.

Is It A Scam, MLM, Pyramid Scheme?

Arias Agencies is not a scam. On the contrary, it’s a legitimate and reputable agency that has won numerous awards and was named AIL Agency of the Year for two consecutive years. In addition, their excellent workplace culture has been recognized by Top Workplaces for 5 years in a row.

My Thoughts

Now that you’ve learned more about Arias Agencies, I’d like to offer you my perspective on selling insurance as a national insurance agency owner since 2013.

Here are two aspects you should consider before you start working as an insurance agent with Arias or any other company: mastering one product strategy and commissions.

Mastering One Product Strategy

When it comes to selling insurance as a new agent, I highly recommend to start by focusing on a single product. It will help you become an expert in your niche and, as a result, make more sales. You can always start incorporating other insurance products into your portfolio later on.

In my agency, Duford Insurance Group, agents who choose this approach are often more successful than those who try to learn about multiple products where each one has different underwriting requirements.

Commissions

As a  new agent, it is essential that you understand how commission rates work to ensure that you’ll get paid the highest amount possible.

Commission percentages vary widely from agency to agency, however, the commission level of the agency you’re interested in should never be lower than the competition. You also want to check what benefits come with the commission levels you’re being offered. Perhaps the agency has some benefits that you wouldn’t be able to get elsewhere.

Many insurance agencies operate as multi-level marketing (MLM) organizations. These agencies typically have lower commission levels, since all agents in the recruitment hierarchy need to get paid. You should definitely stay away from these organizations.

I personally recommend trying to find an insurance agency that focuses on training and supports new agents. These agencies are more likely to pay you fairly.

This is how I run my final expense agency, Duford Insurance Group, too. We don’t have layers of producers typical of multi-level marketing companies. Instead, I work directly with my agents to support them in the sales process.
