About Annuity Marketing Services

Annuity Marketing Services Financial Solutions Group (AMS) is a leading industry provider of financial products, including funds and annuities, and life insurance products.

The company was founded in 1991 by the current CEO Mike Sause. It is headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and has around 30 employees.

Products Sold And Market Focus

AMS provides a range of financial and life insurance products. The company’s principal, Mike Sause, has himself developed multiple insurance and annuity products from scratch.

Annuity Marketing Services partners with more than twenty leading industry carriers. Some of the products they offer include:

    • Great American structured products, including variable index annuity whose value varies based on the performance of an underlying portfolio of mutual funds.

    • Symetra Life (fixed deferred annuity, fixed indexed annuity, index-linked annuity, income annuity, and life insurance products including term life insurance) and Symetra IGO.

    • Transamerica variable products, such as variable universal life insurance and variable annuity.

How Leads Work

The company’s website doesn’t mention anything about how their agents can generate leads. This lack of information most likely means that as an AMS agent you will be expected to start by cold calling prospects, including your friends and family, in order to get referrals.

Some insurance companies provide leads to agents as a form of compensation. This may also be the case with Annuity Marketing Services after your sales reach a certain level.

How Getting Paid Works

There is no information about agent commissions on the AMS website. However, as an independent agent, you can expect to be paid primarily on commission which is based on the amount of policies sold. In other words, the more policies you write, the more money you will make.

To help agents succeed in their business, Annuity Marketing Services offers different tools like sales ideas, conversation scripts, tip cards, and workbooks, as well as various training opportunities.

Is It A Scam, MLM, Pyramid Scheme?

Annuity Marketing Services is a trustworthy company with over thirty years of presence in the industry and not a scam. It holds a superior A+ rating from BBB (although the company is not BBB accredited).

It is not a pyramid scheme, which is a fraudulent system of making money based on recruiting investors. In these types of organizations, your income is based mainly on the number of people you recruit.

Similarly, AMS is not a multi-level marketing (MLM) organization which encourages you to recruit other agents, or your “downline”. In an MLM company, you would make money both through direct sales of products and by getting a percentage of your recruits’ sales.

My Thoughts

Now that you’ve learned more about the Annuity Marketing Services insurance sales opportunity, I would like to offer my perspective as an independent agency owner who has been in business for almost a decade.

The Importance of Leads

As a new insurance agent, you should ideally be able to use a pre-existing, proven system to help you find prospects so that you can focus on selling. What many new insurance agents don’t realize is that it is absolutely necessary to see as many people as possible to increase their chances of success.

For example, in my final expense agency – Duford Insurance Group – we focus on buying direct mail leads, Facebook leads, and television-generated leads. We have established proven marketing strategies that allow agents to reach enough interested prospects who want to buy insurance.

I would highly advise that you ask the representative you meet during your interview with an agency whether they will help you source insurance leads to find prospects. If not, you may want to look for another company to work with.

Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed reading this article on Annuity Marketing Services and that you have gained a better understanding of how selling insurance with this agency works.
