How To Quit UniTrust Financial Group
There are many reasons you may want to quit UniTrust Financial Group, for example, you ran out of money to invest in leads, you ran out of prospects to sell to, or you simply found that the business of selling insurance wasn’t a good fit for you.
The good news is, quitting UniTrust Financial Group is easy.
Here’s how to do it.
First, start by doing your due diligence and find another insurance agency to work for. We recommend you review our Free Agent Resource Guide here for tips on finding a quality insurance agency to join.
Once you find a new agency or carrier to join, you can go ahead and switch your affiliations.
You should keep in mind that as an insurance agent, you are licensed by the state and not by the company. No insurance agency can prevent you from stopping your affiliation with it and doing business with another organization.
You may need to cancel the affiliation with UniTrust Financial Group. The termination usually needs to be filed within a 30 day window, however canceling affiliation is not always mandatory.
To become properly appointed with the new insurance carrier or agency, you simply complete contracting with the new insurance carrier.
Typically, the window for companies to process affiliations is very short, with most companies approving insurance agent carrier appointments within 1 to 2 weeks on average.
Bottom line, quitting UniTrust Financial Group is no big deal. Simply find another organization that’s better suited to your insurance sales career goals, submit contracting through the new organization, and within the next few weeks, you’re good to go and can stop doing business with UniTrust Financial Group.

My Thoughts
Now that you know more about how UniTrust Financial Group works, here are some other thoughts to consider.
Commission Levels
While commission levels aren’t everything, they are important in determining the value proposition of any agency worth joining.
All things equal, lower commission levels equate to lower profitability for the agent. Also, lower starting commission levels may indicate that an agency has lots of “fat” in the middle.
In other words, more in between you and the top, means more commission going to organizations that may play little in your personal development as an agent (read, this may be an insurance MLM).
Bottom line, make sure to speak with the UniTrust representative about how commissions work and how to progress your commission levels.
Recruiting Vs. Producing: Which Is More Important?
In any agency you join, you need to know where emphasis is placed.
Does the agency care more about building and recruiting, or developing its recruits into top producers?
In my experience, organizations either focus on one or the other. And in my opinion, new agents should work with agencies focused on agent sales skill development above producing.
How do you know if the agency you’re thinking about is focused on recruiting over producing?
Very easy; see what the agency focuses its energy on.
If you’re getting lots of excitement over agency building and little to none about developing your skills as a producer, you’re probably at a recruitment-focused agency.
Bottom line, visit the hiring manager, review their preliminary opportunity videos, and talk with the top managers to get a feel concerning what matters most.
Get A Second Opinion
Above all else, before you jump into selling insurance, please make sure you get a second opinion on ANY agency you join.
While we are likely to trust what we hear, it’s always important to compare all opportunities to others to see which fits best for your career goals.
While some agents may be perfect fits for UniTrust, others may not be.
And nothing is worse than finding the wrong fit agency and ruining your insurance sales career BEFORE it gets off the ground.
