Smart Choice was launched in 1994 in North Carolina by its current chairman and CEO Douglas Witcher. Smart Choice is a network of over 8,500 independent agencies and more than 100 insurance carrier partners. This is one of the fastest-growing independent agency networks in the country.
The company is headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, and has over 100 offices located across the US. It provides services in 45 states.
Smart Choice partners with over a hundred top-rated national carriers such as Liberty Mutual, Travelers, MetLife, Safeco Insurance, Allstate, and many others, to offer more than 3,000 products.
Smart Choice has partnered with EverQuote, the largest online insurance marketplace in the country, to provide discounted 100% organically-sourced leads to its agents, including data leads and live transfer leads.
According to the Smart Choice website, their independent agents have the possibility to gain 100% of the commissions they earn, depending on the program.
Besides, the company provides agents with a wide range of services, including access to personal, commercial, life and health markets, in addition to ancillary products and services to help them build their businesses.
They can also enjoy additional benefits through their no-fee program, like access to dedicated product training and a business solutions center. Additionally, agents are offered support of marketing representatives and customer support of their national and regional insurance carrier partners.
Other products and services that are available to agents to help them grow their agencies include:

There are no fees to become a Smart Choice agent and no ongoing fees to continue the membership.
Smart Choice is not a scam. It is a reputable company with positive employee reviews and strong financial ratings. It has a superior A+ rating from BBB.
