My Thoughts
Now that you know a little more about how Allstate Works, I’d like to provide my perspective as an independent agent.
Only selling one product and its downsides
When you work for Allstate, you only sell one particular line of products, and that’s the insurance products Allstate offers.
While these products may be great, the problem is they won’t necessarily be the best choice for every single prospect that you present to.
For example, if a client is looking for a particular line of insurance and they come to you to see what Allstate provides, you may find that your price or underwriting is not as advantageous as other insurance organizations.
In other words, this means you may sell less coverage for one company than you would if you were an independent agent.
An independent agent typically sells a multitude of insurance products as well as a variety of insurance products.
This means the independent agent can typically help more people out than the person who only represents one company.
It’s very important that you keep that in mind in your search for an insurance sales organization to join.
